On Friday at around 130 we left for the airport for our first flight of the trip to Halifax. After a brief stop in Halifax we boarded out next flight to Montreal. When we landed in Montreal, we went to a restaurant and ate our dinner and had a couple of beer. Then off to the next flight to London at around 9ish. I decided to book a window seat which in the end was a mistake because the two people sitting outside from me slept throughout the night. I on the other hand could not sleep and my legs were very jittery. I don’t think I slept for five minutes on that flight and it was torturous.
In November I will attend the Atlantic Center For the Arts (ACA) in New Smyrna Beach Florida to do an intensive Abstract Art workshop under the direction of Audrey Phillips. This has been something that I have wanted to do for such a long time and I am sure the week will go very fast. I have never met Audrey but I have admired her work for a years and I have heard that she is a fabulous facilitator. To be emmerced in painting all week with no other distractions of everyday life will be a huge treat, not to mentioned that there are 7 other like minded artists there with me. Making art can be a lonely job sometimes so I am excited to meet this women who will be doing the workshop with me. I will keep you posted on how things go after I get back but in the meantime, I would love to know who you have studied with and who were some of your most important teachers.
When my husband and I decided to move back to Newfoundland we knew that we both wanted to build a studio and workshop. In August we got started with the building and finally the outside is finished. I am hoping to be moved in by October. Since moving back home, I have been painting in one corner of my laundry room which has been very crapped to say the least. I love to paint large on big pieces of unstretched canvas so when I move to the studio I will have two 20 foot walls for painting. My studio is 16x20 and it has a window on the back and 4 smaller windows on the front. As soon as it is complete I will post pictures of the inside.
